Caleb Levick was born 1755 in France.

He came to the United States and joined the “Society of Friends” in Delaware for a time before moving to Berkley County, Virginia. During the Revolutionary War he served for three or more years in the Continental Line, assisting in establishing American Independence. He was a Sergeant of the Continental Line in Captain Joseph Iwearingen’s Company. During the Revolutionary War, Levick resided at Berkley County, Virginia.

Following the war, Levick married Rachel Bedinger in Shepherdstown, Virginia, in 1791, and they had six children.

They are Sarah “Sallie” Levick; Mary Levick (born September 13, 1793); Elisabeth Levick (born in 1797), John Levick (born in 1798); Ann Levick; and Margaret Levick (born February 12, 1809). Levick died on December 18, 1817, at Shepherdstown, Jefferson County, West, and is buried in the “Old Episcopal Graveyard” in Shepherdstown. A DAR marker is present.

After the death of Caleb Levick, his widow and several of his children moved to the 400 acres of government-issued land in Jefferson County, Virginia.
