George Day was the 3rd Great Grandfather of Dorothy Day Davenport, a founding member of the Mary Chilton Chapter in Sioux Falls SD. Dorothy was also the primary benefactor of the Mary Chilton Chapter Foundation. 

The Foundation annually gives over $100,000 to support the DAR mission of supporting Historic Preservation, Education and Patriotism in the state of South Dakota.
