Philip Peter Fusselman was born around 1745, in either Germany or Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
He was the son of Hans Erhardt Fusselman/Fosselmann and Elizabetha Margaretha Probst. He married Anna Catharine Hess, the daughter of Johann Hess and Anna Sabina Leibensperger, around 1764. Philip and Anna Catharine had 13 children, many of whom lived until adulthood.
Philip was a private in the Northampton County Militia under Captain Adam Deal and Captain Mathias Probst.
According to family lore, while serving under Captain Probst, he was involved with the transportation of the Liberty Bell to Allentown, Pennsylvania, when the British were attacking Philadelphia in 1777.
Philip and Anna Catharine were early members of the Jerusalem Union Church in Berks County, Pennsylvania. Philip died in 1820 at approximately 75 years old.
