Philip was a private in the Northampton County Militia under Captain Adam Deal and Captain Mathias Probst.
According to family lore, while serving under Captain Probst, he was involved with the transportation of the Liberty Bell to Allentown, Pennsylvania, when the British were attacking Philadelphia in 1777.
Philip and Anna Catharine were early members of the Jerusalem Union Church in Berks County, Pennsylvania. Philip died in 1820 at approximately 75 years old.
