Private Bryant saw action with Colonel Davies’ Virginia Regiment at Brandywine, and Germantown, Pennsylvania, as well as Monmouth, New Jersey, and Stony Point, New York.
Private Bryant was wounded in the leg while engaging in the battle of Stony Point on July 16,1779. He was later discharged in Reading, Pennsylvania, in February 1780, having served three years.
Bryant found his way to Georgia after his service where he married Mary Ann Barnett on April 2, 1784, at the home of her father in Oglethorpe, Georgia. Together they had eight children: Austin A., Elizabeth, Elijah L., John, George W., Sarah (Sally), James Bluford, and William Jr. He died in Campbell County, Georgia, on August 22,1833.
